This site is dedicated to my favorite TV show, The X-Files. Like the tender scolex of a flukeman, The X-Files has attached itself to my vital organs…and now I can’t survive without it. With no new episodes and only one lone movie to look forward to, mental meanderings are all that’s left. You’re welcome to meander with me. In fact, I’d prefer it. Leave a comment or links to X-Files news, art, videos, etc. I hope you have as much fun reading the features here as I do making them.

Summertime Updates

Wow, a looong hiatus. Like the rest of the world, I’m just plugging along until The X-Files movie comes out (title: I Want to Believe) and trying to remain relatively unspoiled. Below is a trailer for the film (looks like most of those first glimpses from wondercon are no longer available) and along the sidebar are new Episodes of the Month. Enjoy, and drop me a comment if you want to chat about The X-Files.

And a new gem from ytmnd.com: Mulder Hates Smokers.

Answer my Buffy request!

But first — here’s the X-Files trailer that’s been flying around the ‘net like a space cigar (yes, I should have updated long ago when all the wondercon goodies first spilled forth and runneth over, but I’ve been busy). There are a few versions of this, but special thanks to Michael L. for sending me this video, which is definitely clearer than the one I’ve been squinting to see:

Very exciting, yes? I really really hope all my doom and gloom notions about this sequel are just shoved right back in my face, because boy do I want to be wrong about this. Dear gosh let me wrong. This movie has to make up for the series finale, which left me mentally and spiritually broken for months.

To keep me in a chipper X-Files mood, my sister has finally started watching The X-Files. It only took over a decade and a half of convincing, but now she’s all revved up to get caught up before the movie. I did tell her, however, that the movie will be a stand alone flick, so no strict adherence to X-Files’ mythology episodes is needed (blasphemous, I know!). She’s currently on the first season, but can’t seem to get past Fire (1×11) because she just bursts into giggles whenever Phoebe Green opens her poofy mouth.

Phoebe Green in Fire (1×11)
Phoebe Green’s buggy eyes and poofy lips.

My sister’s favorites thus far are Ice (1×07) and Eve (1×10). Doesn’t she have great X-Files taste?! ;)

With this recent X-Files success, I’d like to pester her into finally getting on the Joss Whedon crazy train, and I’d like to start with Buffy. So now I’m rewatching all the episodes of Buffy (yes, this is totally normal and I do have life), trying to find the perfect episode to introduce her to the show. My cousin suggested a stand alone ep. from season 3 - which I tend to agree with, but can’t decide on which one. Anyone out there have any suggestions? Even from other seasons? Please send me suggestions! I love the feeling of nerdy solidarity.

And one final ramble: If you haven’t noticed already, there are new Episodes of the Month posted along the side bar. It’s incredibly late for a St. Patrick’s Day theme, but I’m blaming that on all the alien-green beer. Find the entire list of Episodes of the Month under Marathons.

Seems appropriate to close with a Buffy/ X-Files quote:

(regarding Xander’s strange behavior)
Giles: It’s devastating. He’s turned into a sixteen-year-old boy. Course, you’ll have to kill him.
Buffy: Giles, I’m serious.
Giles: So am I. Except for the part about killing him. Testosterone is a great equalizer. It turns all men into morons. He will, however, get over it.
Buffy: (exasperated) I cannot believe that you, of all people, are trying to Scully me. There is something supernatural at work here. Get your books! Look stuff up!

New Year, New X-Files Randomness

The X-Files Pinball Machine Graphics

Yes, we all want new updates on the movie. But what about all those old X-Files goodies we seem to have forgotten? For instance — I had no idea there was an X-Files pinball machine. Thankfully, lots of other fans did. Scroll down to get pics, video, and websites all devoted to the elusive machine (or find it all under Flotsam). Continue your stroll down memory lane with new Episodes of the Month on the side bar. Looking back on it now, the 6th season’s light heartedness wasn’t so bad…no, I changed my mind — it was. SECOND SEASON RULES!

Happy New Year!

Pin me, Mulder.

The X-Files Pinball Machine

So who knew this little gem existed? I sure as heck didn’t. But lots of other fans did. Check out the video of this marvelous machine in action, the awesome flier describing the machine’s awesomeness, and two fan sites that chronicle the amazing effects of having an X-Files pinball machine. If you want to buy your own, you’re in luck– Treasure Cove Pinball has one for you! But even if you’re not in the market for the coolest accessory ever, their site has wonderfully detailed pictures of the machine.

Merry X-Filemas!

Happy Holidays!

So totally better than Festivus. What better way to spread holiday cheer than with The X-Files?

The X-Files Advent Calendar is running again this year. It’s nice to know others are still crazy like me, nearly half a decade after the show’s end. Find links to the current calendar and previous ones at xfroadrunners (sorry, I’m unsure if they’re housed all in one place). Also see if you can find the quirky Red’s Advent Calendar. I don’t recall where the cutie below came from, but isn’t everything sweeter around the holidays? Even an uber- dysfunctional couple like Mulder and Scully:

Cross-stitched Scully and Mulder

With that in mind, a small holiday-charged update — new Episodes of the Month were added. See them on the sidebar or find them under Marathons.

No major updates, just more news on the second X-Files movie that scares me more and more. Amanda Peet and Xzibit as fellow FBI agents? What kind of movie is this? A romantic comedy/ video game adaptation? I honestly don’t know how to feel. Yes, it’s the second movie we’ve all been waiting and wishing for…but I just barely survived those last few seasons of The X-Files with my obsession in tact. This movie may be the death of me. Prove me wrong, Mr. Carter. Please.

And just in case you’ve been missing out — Avatar is also totally awesome. See?

Avatar - 1×13: The Blue Spirit

Oh no! What’s going to happen?! I guess you should be watching Avatar! Happy Holidays!

Finally! An update!

Too much BioShock will do that to a blogger. Speaking of BioShock, you can find a growing marathon below - The X-Files in BioShock. Also, new Episodes of the Month were added for September. Find those on the side bar. Just in case you missed the old ones, all Episodes of the Month will be saved under Marathons. Scroll or click away!

The X-Files in Bioshock

Like any obsessed X-Phile, I see The X-Files in everything. So how many X-Files episodes can I find in BioShock? Read below and find out! Marathon these episodes to take a BioShock breather without really taking one. This list will continue to grow as I get through the game.

Mulder and Scully in First Person Shooter
Mulder and Scully get their video game on.

  • ElectroBolt, the first genetic code-altering plasmid of BioShock, gives my fem-puter hand the power to electroshock crazy splicers. It feels soo good. There’s nothing like a fist full of lightning, as Atlas would say. And The X-Files would say so too. Darren Peter Oswald (played by Giovanni Ribisi) of the 3rd season episode D.P.O. (3×03) had the exact same power, electroshocking his victims and cows.
  • Incinerate, the second genetic code-altering plasmid of BioShock, gives my fem-puter hand the power of fire at my fingerprints. Pretty freakin’ hot. Not so hot when The X-Files featured the same power in the first season episode Fire (1×11). Overall, Fire was a very boring episode despite the monster of the week, Cecil L’Ively, and his flamey ability.

Electroshock in DPO Fire at your fingertips in Fire
Giovanni Ribisi has his ElectroBolt, and
Fire at your Fingertips on The X-Files

  • “Beyond the Sea,” a Bobby Darin classic in BioShock — and a classic on The X-Files. This heavenly tune is the song of choice for Scully’s father in the the first season episode Beyond the Sea (1×12).

  • Who’s the crazy first boss of BioShock? Dr. Steinman - the psycho cosmetic surgeon of Rapture with highly questionable aesthetic ideals. The X-Files also featured psycho, killer cosmetic surgeons in the fourth season episode Sanguinarium (4×06). X-Philes got to see bloody deaths by liposuction and face-lift (more like face lifted completely off). Yuck.
  • Gotta love that 1950s advertising. For some reason, the posters for “Fontaine Dandy Dentures ” and “Painless Dental” in BioShock’s dental ward from hell remind me of the old posters for the dental anesthetic “Twilite Sleep” in the fourth season episode Unruhe (4×02).

Twilite Sleep in Unruhe
Dentistry is murder on The X-Files too.

  • Arcadia in BioShock — the garden of Rapture, home to it’s trees and oxygen supply. Very pretty. Arcadia on The X-Files - a sixth season episode (6×13) where Mulder and Scully pose as a married couple to battle a monster made of trash in a gated community. Very ugly.
  • Ah yes, the Little Sisters. BioShock’s genetically engineered Adam-harvesters remind me of The X-Files‘ genetically engineered killer kids — The Eves. Eve 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 all made appearances in the classic first season episode Eve (1×10). Incidentally, Bioshock’s plasmid power meter is also called Eve. Another connection — the second season X-Files episode Aubrey (2×12) features a serial killer who calls his victims “Little Sisters.”

Eve 9 and 10
Little Sisters? No! It’s Eve 9 and Eve 10!

How would Mulder and Scully fair in BioShock? Could they survive? Well, Mulder would need to touch and taste every plasmid and tonic. High chances he’d be a crazy splicer in the end. Scully couldn’t harvest any Little Sisters, so there’s no hope of getting much Adam there. They would, however, have all those neat flash lights for the dark corners of Rapture…I would venture a yes. :)

Episodes of the Month

Find them, watch them, love them.

June 2008:

  • It’s June, and this month’s theme is “Who’s my Daddy?” Because it’s Father’s Day dammit, and these episodes prove that the more baby-daddy issues there are, the more fun it is to watch. See Mulder take some ketamine for paternal answers in DEMONS (4×23). Follow it up with the Cigarette Smoking Man’s first implication that he may be Mulder’s father in TALITHA CUMI (3×24). Then watch it all become a delicious sci-fi soap opera, complete with shocking revelations and hospital beds, in REDUX II (5×03).

March 2008:

  • It’s March, and this month’s theme is gettin’ St. Patty’s Day green. See the first appearance of green alien blood in THE ERLENMEYER FLASK (1×23). Follow it up with a haughty laugh and Phoebe Green in FIRE (1×11). Top it off with Mulder’s 2nd season close encounter in LITTLE GREEN MEN (2×01).

January 2008:

  • It’s January - and I say who needs to wait for Valentine’s Day? Let’s start the new year with loooove. This month’s theme is “Kissy X-Files for Kissin’ X-Philes .” Start off with SMALL POTATOES (4×20): Where Mulder and Scully kinda sorta almost kiss. Follow it up with TRIANGLE (6×03): Where Mulder and Scully kinda sorta kiss. End it all with MILLENNIUM (7×05): Where Mulder and Scully share a really boring kiss.

December 2007:

  • It’s December, so MERRY X-FILEMAS! Here are some “cheerful” favorites to cry, laugh, and scream your way to holiday joy. — Start off with HUMBUG (2×20): Because holiday dinners are always yummier with crickets and appendages! Follow it up with JOSE CHUNG’S FROM OUTER SPACE (3×20): Because secret alien autopsy videos make great stocking stuffers! Top it off with BAD BLOOD (5×12): Because who doesn’t want a pair of big buck teeth? Happy Holidays!

September 2007:

  • It’s September, so time to get your camping on before winter settles in. Of course, a little backwoods exploration is always deadly on The X-Files. This month’s theme is “Be Grateful You Live in the City” — Start off with DARKNESS FALLS (1×19): Mulder and Scully go to the woods and battle ancient green bugs. Follow it up with DETOUR (5×04): Mulder and Scully go to the woods and fight Spanish Conquistadors. Top it off with FIELD TRIP (6×21): Mulder and Scully go to the woods and get hopped up on psychedelic shrooms.

August 2007:

  • It’s August, and this month’s theme is “Before They Landed Better Roles” - Before Monk, Tony Shalhoub mastered the freak out in SOFT LIGHT (2×23). Follow it up with Giovanni Ribisi and Jack Black electrifying the small screen in D.P.O. (3×03). End it all on a sour note with B.D. Wong, Lucy Liu, and a Chinese pyramid scheme in HELL MONEY (3×19).

New Video!

Another update so soon? I’m proud of myself. But really, this was just too good to wait until next week. I get all warm and fuzzy knowing that there are other X-Philes still alive, still obsessed and crazy over the same things I am. Please to enjoy:

X-Files to Angel Intro - so delicious…

And in case you missed kasricha’s other gem:

Randomness - Anyone in the mood for some film noir? I just watched The Third Man, and boy was Orson Welles badass!
